The importance of a mobile website...

It’s often said, in business, that you only have one chance to make a good first impression

Responsive templates for mobile devicesIn today’s world of ever changing technologies, this is especially true when it comes to website design and accessibility.

As of 2022, 85% of adults in the United States own a smart phone, spending an average of 5 hours and 24 minutes on their device while checking the status at least 96 times a day.

Not long ago, a smart phone was considered a luxury item that only a few could afford.   But now, the smartphone is a necessity.  In just a few clicks, users can get the information they need.  Smart phone users are also more likely to take action, i.e. making a purchase, calling the business, or finding directions than users of desktop computers.  Today, over 62% of website traffic is from mobile devices.

According to a senior Google official, two-thirds of smartphone users say a mobile-friendly site makes them more likely to buy a company’s product or service, and 74% say they’re more likely to return to the site later.  61% says that if they don’t find what they’re looking for (probably within about five seconds), they’ll click away to another site.  Half say that even if they like a business, they’ll use it's site less often if it doesn’t work well on their smart phone.

If you think about it, finding and reserving a place for you to dine, playing a video game, buying a song, preserving a memory with a photo or video of your children, seeing what is on TV or even getting from getting from point A or point B are all things that were once only available on your desktop computer, print media,  or other devices but are now everyplace you are, all integrated into one incredible, portable device.

There’s little question that mobile devices are now the norm in everyday living around the world.  Now more than ever it’s important that websites be optimized for mobile devices.  Mobile websites can increase sales, generate more traffic, and boost customer engagement, as well as give you an edge over the competition.

So, a well designed mobile presence is an important part of a business plan.  The design should be simple and easy to navigate.  It should reduce or eliminate the need for the visitor to pinch and zoom in order to read or navigate.  A mobile website should allow the visitor to place a call, email, or locate a business with just a few clicks.

Due to affordability, functionality and the ease of access to the Internet; it is no wonder why smart phones have become a key important tool for people all around the world.

With the advance of technology, times have changed.  Whether your business is service oriented, informative, retail or wholesale based, to succeed in today’s market, it’s necessary to adapt to changing technology to assure a strong position in the market and stay ahead of the competition.
