Come and See My First Solo Art Show in almost 20 years...
Creative artwork encourages visitors to “IMAGINE” during WACAC exhibit
WYOMING – Original artwork by a creative local artist will be the focus of a community-wide arts event to be held this month in Wyoming.
“IMAGINE” is the theme of the art show featuring paintings, digital artwork and photographs by artist Eric Peterson that will be held Thursday, April 23, at the Spirit and Praise Pentecostal Church, 5521 E. Viking Blvd., Wyoming.
The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 6:00 p.m. and will continue until 9:00 p.m.
The sponsor is the Wyoming Area Creative Arts Community (WACAC), a nonprofit arts organization whose mission is to encourage creative expression, promote the networking of artists of all ages, and champion a learning environment that builds community participation in the arts.
With that mission in mind, WACAC is organizing monthly events to spotlight local artists.
This month’s “IMAGINE” event spotlights art by Peterson, who is a founding member of WACAC and mayor of Wyoming. His artwork is incorporated into creative website design for businesses and nonprofit organizations.
In addition to this digital artwork, Peterson says that the creative expression evident in his paintings and photography comes from “a diverse history of life experiences,” ranging from his involvement in sales and the culinary profession to his experience with military intelligence in the U.S. Army during the first Gulf War.
Peterson will be present during the show to answer questions and talk with guests about the diversity of his artwork.
Also, a musical program will be held throughout the evening featuring music by local singer and songwriter Andrew Spreck, accompanied by percussionist Bob Colbert.
Spreck draws from over 24 years of live performance experience as electric lead guitar and lead vocalist in classic rock and blues bands.
In recent years he went off on his own as a solo acoustic artist, drawing from classic rock, classic country and what he describes as “just about anything with soul and passion.”
Spreck’s fist solo CD “In the Distance” was released in 2011 and was followed by the CD “Devotion,” which was released in mid-2014.
Members of WACAC will be present throughout the evening, mingling with guests to answer questions and to offer insight to budding artists, who will be encouraged to consider membership in WACAC.
